So I'm really excited about this! This year, I'm a guest blogger for one of my favorite record labels in the whole wide world, Smithsonian Folkways. They are working with UNESCO to release a collection of amazing music from all around the world, and I'm writing about some of it! This week, I wrote about music from the African countries of Algeria and Benin. The recordings are incredible and definitely worth checking out, and if you aren't familiar with the work of Smithsonian Folkways, now is the time!
In other news:
- I have added a number of shows around the Midwest for the coming months, with more in the works. For those of you outside of the Midwest and even the country, stay tuned. I am coming to you, I promise. Sign up for my newsletter to stay in the loop. Tour dates here.
- I am releasing a new studio album in 2015. I recorded and mixed it over the course of the last 6 months at Ardent Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. I am very excited. Lots of working happening on this and other soon-to-be-released music in my camp. I am working hard, I promise.
- Earlier this year I sat on a panel with Philip Glass. Below is a photo proving it happened. :)
